About Pei-I Yang
Integrative Family & Systemic Psychotherapist
Clinical Director, Rainbow Parenting Practice and Rainbow Family Therapy Service
I’m Pei-I Yang, a UKCP-accredited Family & Systemic Psychotherapist with nearly 30 years of experience working with families, adults, children, and professionals facing complexity in managerial, clinical, and consultative roles.
I work with families across the lifespan — from young children to teenagers, from adult children to parents and grandparents — when relationships have become strained, stuck, or painful, and when individual support alone hasn’t been enough.
My work is rooted in one central belief: Difficulties don’t live inside one person. They live in relationships, histories, and systems. Every one in the family is part of the solution.

My Background
For almost three decades, I’ve worked across statutory services, education, mental health, and private practice, supporting families experiencing:
-
Chronic conflicts and breakdown in relationships
-
Trauma, loss and abuse
-
Neurodivergence and mental health difficulties
-
Intergenerational patterns that repeat despite doing everything right
-
Situations where families feel judged, blamed, or misunderstood by systems
Alongside my clinical training in Family & Systemic Psychotherapy, my work is informed by Psychology, Psychoanalytic thinking and Child development. This integrative foundation allows me to hold both emotional depth and practical movement, without reducing families to diagnoses or surface behaviours.
How I Work
I don’t work to “fix” individuals. I work to help families understand what’s happening between them, how past experiences are shaping present responses, and how new patterns can be built safely and sustainably.
Sessions are paced carefully. We don’t rush insight, and we don’t force solutions. Change happens when families feel seen, understood, and supported to do things differently — together.
Who I Work With
I work with:
-
Families experiencing high conflict or emotional disconnection
-
Parents and adult children struggling to relate without escalation or withdrawal
-
Families navigating neurodivergence, mental health challenges, or complex histories
-
Professionals and services seeking systemic consultation for complex cases
I also provide consultation and training to organisations working with families, including care, fostering, adoption, and frontline services — helping professionals think systemically without burning out.
Why Rainbow Family Therapy
Rainbow Family Therapy exists because many families are offered fragmented support — individual therapy here, parenting advice there — without anyone holding the whole picture.
My role is to help families and professionals slow down, step back, and see what’s really happening — so change is not only possible, but lasting.
This is careful work. Thoughtful work. And work that respects the dignity of every person involved. If you’re reading this and feeling unsure, overwhelmed, or quietly exhausted — you’re not alone.
Families don’t fail. They adapt to what they’ve lived through. With the right support, those adaptations can change.
